Ubuntu meaning “Humanity”. It is often translated as “I am because we are”, also “humanity towards others” in the philosophical sense to mean “the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity”.
Ubuntu is an eternal African philosophy of ‘Oneness’ – this oneness is an understanding of the disconnectedness of all life. A golden thread of goodness connects all life from the lowest creature to the highest, this golden thread of goodness is commonly known as love i.e. Ubuntu. Ubuntu means love, truth, peace, happiness, eternal optimism, inner goodness, etc. Ubuntu is the essence of a human being, the divine spark of goodness inherent within each being. From the beginning of time the divine principles of Ubuntu have guided African societies.
The African Section – Ninety-Nines draws on the fact that we are one human family, we are brothers and sisters travelling this earth together. We work on the ubuntu founding principles by valuing the good of community above self interest, we practice the ubuntu social responsibilities such as promoting advancement of aviation through “Girls Wings For Africa” (GWFA) Project – STEM education, scholarships and mutual support, respecting others and mentoring them through ubuntu whilst honouring our unique history and sharing our passion for flight.
“A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees”. ~ Amelia Earhart

Studies show that expanding education access in the developing world could help reduce global poverty, but tuition and supplies can be expensive. Aspiring young adults who can’t afford these costs may miss out on pursuing higher education, the key to a path out of poverty.

The African Section 99s Scholarship Programs can be the difference in assisting females gaining their dreams of aspiring to become pilots.

You can help these females whose educational goals stretch beyond their financial means. Give a gift of a lifetime that will allow a female to follow her passion.
